It'l be interesting to see the download caps that Optus will use at their new lower price.
Face facts, to get an uncapped service you have to pay more.
Please forward this to Optus:
Thats great news, but are you going to stop the credit checks for existing Optus Net users, as I can not switch from where I am because I have a $300.00 debt which is 6 years old. yeah I could wait until it clears, but I have been an Optus user for 12+ months and have never missed a payment, that in it self is good credit.
I just also need to know, will you be having stupid contracts on your DSL, I really hope not, because that would be a shame.
Also, really hope you have generous transfer limits,, thats what most normal users look at first, then pricing.
If you do this right, you could end up with more users then you thought, you just need to rethink a few restrictions of your sign up policy.
I don't know what idiot wrote this piece but he should learn some English grammar! There is no such animal as a "cheapest price". The subject of the matter has the "lowest price" while the rate charged may be the "cheapest"!
ADSL is great - if one lives within a short distance of the relevant exchange. When are the purveyors of broadband going to reduce the charges for satellite broadband. Some of us are well out of reach of both the ADSL and the high prices for satellite broadband. Perhaps profit is more important than the people in remote areas.
Yes Optus and Telstra may have a price war but they wont come close to being competitive. Right now if you know where to look you can get 512 down 128 up for under fifty bucks and thats with eight gigabytes, these two wont come close to that. I think these 200mb deals are criminal just imagine the amount of people that are going to get a rude shock on their first bill.
This does not help the 1.2 million people that are on pair gain systems.

What a lot of hype. Other companies have been beter priced than telstra and optus for over a year! and no one ever talks about them. Not to mention the $29.95 per month from telstra will be a shock to people when they get they first bill for 10 times that after downloading 2 gb!!! Its a trap for the unaware!! who just don't know how quick 200MB will vanish. If you ask me the real price war is between companies like www.bizmail.com.au, www.tpg.com.au, are just some examples! eg; $39.95 from bizmail broadband gets you 1000mb the telstra 29.95 plan would be $150.00 in the end!
