in brief After a difficult 12 months in which its share price has plummeted from over AU$2 to under AU$0.50, telco Commander has appointed a new managing director.

From today, Amanda Lacaze will assume the role of acting managing director and CEO. Current CEO Adrian Coote will remain as the official CEO until the 7 January next year to assure a "smooth transition", Commander said.

Lacaze has previously worked as CEO for AOL/7 and executive chairman of Orion Telecommunications.

"With extensive experience in the telecommunications sector and a proven track record of optimising the performance of public companies, the Board is confident Amanda Lacaze has the skills and experience to set the course for Commander's future success," Commander chairman Elizabeth Nosworthy said in a statement.
