Managing director of Netspace, Stuart Marbeck, said the problem was caused by a raid array failure causing the inroad mail server to stop working.
According to Marbeck the system showed errors at 10am and crashed shortly after. He said the system was then rebooted twice and partially restored to "degraded performance", however, he said the system was still "practically useless" and needed urgent repair.
Marbeck says the two faulty hard disks have now been replaced and the system is "happy again".
