NetAlert, the government-owned Internet safety company, has had its chair and board reappointed for the next financial year.
Karyn Hart, NetAlert Chair since its establishment in 1999, and board members Peter Coroneos, chief executive of the Internet Industry Association, Kaaren Koomen, government affairs executive at IBM Australia and New Zealand, Derek Whitehead, director of information services at Swinburne University of Technology, and Kevin Zuccato, director of the Australian High Tech Crime Centre, were all reappointed till 30 June 2007.
The not-for-profit organisation helps promote safe Internet use, especially for children. NetAlert also researches filtering technologies and advises on industry codes for Internet safety.
In announcing the reappointments, the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, said the NetAlert board retained an appropriate mix of industry, legal, library services, law enforcement and educational experience.
