Five more NBN Co executives are to be "assigned" to the Tasmania NBN company as the national company revealed it would retain control over most appointments for the state's fibre telco.

Following yesterday's appointment of NBN Co staffer Adrian Inch as the general manager of NBN Tasmania Ltd, a spokesperson for the NBN Co has confirmed that five more executives will be immediately "assigned" southwards.

The process means that jobs for Tasmania's wholesale telco builder and operator will not be advertised independently but rather seconded to it by the NBN Co.

"This is to enable us to fill positions quickly and to ensure that what we learn in Tasmania will be retained for the Australia-wide roll-out in due course," said an NBN Co spokesperson.

The five new positions will be for commercial, finance, project management, technical and operations, and will be to assist Inch and his boss, fellow former Acacia executive and executive chairman of NBN Tasmania, Doug Campbell.

NBN Co Ltd has been charged with the construction and eventual operation of Australia's wholesale-only fibre to the home communications network. NBN Tasmania Ltd was created as a separate entity to commence an early build of the fibre network in Tasmania, expected to reach some 200,000 households.
