John Kelly The spot has been vacant since late July, when incumbent Paul Butcher left the company, a spokesperson for Ericsson confirmed to ZDNet Australia today.

Butcher himself had only been in the role since March, after he joined Ericsson this year when Ericsson acquired fellow vendor Marconi. Butcher had held the local managing director position at Marconi.

Ericsson could not confirm Butcher's current employer.

According to a statement from Ericsson, Kelly has more than 20 years' experience in the ICT industry, with roles at Telstra and telephone equipment provider Damovo Australia, which was acquired by Telstra in September 2004.

Kelly will report to Ericsson's local chief executive officer Bill Zikou, who has only held his own role since mid-July.
