Mitsubishi picks Commander

in brief The Australian arm of Mitsubishi Motors has recently signed a "major" three-year managed services contract with integrated ICT vendor Commander.

The win -- announced with Commander's half-yearly results this morning -- was believed to cover desktop, network and server services, a spokesperson for the group told ZDNet Australia, although further information was not immediately available. A spokesperson for Mitsubishi had not returned calls by press time.

In its statement, Commander said the win reflected the expansion of its managed service team, in addition to its new combined offering due to the now-completed acquisition of systems integrator Volante in mid-2006.

Commander said its managed and professional services division had retained "all major contracts" since the Volante acquisition, with some of those being extended and re-signed.

Good to see Commander concentrating on what it always has... MAJOR clients....

Don't get me wrong.. Major Clients bring in the bacon... but ignoring smaller organisations can cause bad PR....

Not Commander SS -- 19/02/07 (in reply to #320074926)

Actually Volante won this, Commander is a joke when it comes to managed services, to the point where managed services is run by Volante and branded Volante.

In fact Volante was doing services work for Commander managed services customers pre takeover, without Commander even realising

does this mean more job losses? Michael Crichton -- 20/02/07

so does this mean more job losses at mitsubishi, or will some staff be transferred to commander?

my bet is that commander will just try to run things from their office with their existing staff, as all outsourcers seem to do these days.

i hope that mitsubishi have taken the cost of any payouts and the loss of corporate knowledge into account when it comes to any savings they may think they are getting.

outsourced for ages anyway Anonymous -- 21/02/07 (in reply to #320075001)

Mitsubishi had outsourced most of this stuff for ages anyway... surprised they went to commander tho...
