Mac users shut out of BigPond Cable

Macintosh users in NSW with a Telstra BigPond Cable connection faced -intermittent" service problems today, as the national carrier battled with a domain name server glitch.

-The problem's been fixed as far as we know. We had a small number of people contact us about it but I don't think it was a huge problem, but I suppose for individuals who couldn't log on it was an inconvenience."

-We don't know what the root of the problem was, but I'm told it was fixed by re-booting the domain name server. I still haven't had confirmation of that but I've been told that is the case."

A similar problem hit Apple BigPond users in early September, when the telco was accused of ignoring a large segment of the market by failing to re-connect Mac users to the network after a configuration error corrupted the service.

Telstra is not concerned about their customers. Telstra's history proves this conclusively.

bigpond have probably done them a favour, imagine being stuck with a mob like them...
Why does telstra always strive to rip people off, and they act not alone, i believe that there might be a little, maybe not so little, collaboration with other parties, for setting their pricing structures, or do you honestly believe that the prices were honestly achieved, with you the customer in mind.
I was looking for a different media for the internet, so i started looking at 2-way satellite connections, checked out the price at big pond and had a heart attack.
    $400 plus... aaaarrgh.

the same service in thailand , actually a better service in thailand, with a ten GIGABYTE limit per month, cost them 22000 bahts , which is 6 dollars australian. and with that pricing, there are a few tiers of businesses in between, and they all make a profit.......
and in the us, the same service costs 99.00 us with a download limit of 800 megabyte ...A DAY, so even with the exchange rate that's about 160.00 aus a month, where do telstra get its pricing ?

who needs enemies or thieves,, .. we got telstra

All telstra is interested in is ripping you off...
