Software maker Kazaa has temporarily suspended downloads of its file-swapping service from its Web site, pending a decision by a Dutch court on January 31.

A Dutch court in November ordered the company to bar people from swapping copyrighted digital music files or face stiff fines.

Kazaa has also been sued by the US recording and film industries for alleged copyright violation.
