Is there any doubt? Keith Styles -- 05/06/07

    1. The government is pork barrelling to shore up it's flagging election chances?

    2. Senator Coonan is unable to make the decisions she must make because she simply does not understand the problem or the technology.

    3. Unless the deadlock between the ACCC, Telstra's FTT? and the G9 proposal is resolved, quickly, our countries economy is in serious jeopardy?

Two bob on the Howard government giving in too Telstra to save the cost of having to subsidise the broadband we need in the hope winning voters.

Heaven forbid we should have to put up with such a cop out!

What shoud of been done! Anonymous -- 05/06/07 (in reply to #320080477)

When Telstra was first put on the block for privatisation. The government should of kept 100% of the network and only sold the retail arm. This way the government would of stil pulled in revenue from fees paid by Telstra and other Service Providers. And also would of given them free range to upgrade the network without Telstra winging like a pack of hyenas.
But in the real world this is no longer an option. I can only see fairness if the government forces Telstra retail to go through the same process in using the network as other Service Providers do.
