A company spokeswoman confirmed the pricing initiative.
"We've got lots of different strategies and ... that's one of them," she told ZDNet Australia .
As yet no customers have been charged the 25c connection fee, but that could end any day now.
"It's actually not something that's going to keep going... we're focussing on other pricing initiatives at the moment," she said.
The first and only 3G network in Australia was launched by Hutchison in April this year.
The company yesterday announced the signing of a new content deal with Fairfax and Network Ten, and has flagged an expansion of coverage into Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane.
Hutchison has until now only serviced Sydney and Melbourne.
The company has been dogged by analysts claims that the newest carrier would not be able to obtain enough customers to be profitable.
However, Austin Bryan, director of 3G products and services for Hutchison Telecom yesterday told ZDNet Australia the company was "extremely pleased" with the take up of its service so far.
Perth and Adelaide will come online on Tuesday 1st of July, while Brisbane will launch the following day.
