Domain regulator restrains SiteGeneral

in brief Web hosting services company SiteGeneral.com has been slapped over the wrist by the nation's domain regulator for unauthorised transfer of domain names between registrars.

"During March 2006, SiteGeneral.com initiated 59 transfers from TPP Internet to IntaServe without obtaining a written request or authorisation from the registrants," .au Domain Administration (auDA) said today in a statement.

"auDA found that the registrants did not receive notice of the transfer because SiteGeneral.com had entered its own contact e-mail address in the registry database instead of the registrant's e-mail address."

The domain regulator instructed registry services provider AusRegistry to reverse the transfers back to TPP Internet.
