Under the contract, Dimension Data will manage monitoring, break/fix services, administration and support for the government's data network. Around 200 government agencies use the network.
"As part of the core managed service, we are providing government agencies with real-time visibility of their networks and the status of key devices -- which proved to be a really influential offering in our proposal," said Steve Nola, Australian chief executive officer of Dimension Data.
Other services to be provided include intrusion detection and prevention, network and security consulting and advisory services, threat analysis and response and vulnerability assessments.
The contract had created 24 new jobs in South Australia, according to the government. Eighteen of these were technical engineers.
This contract was part of the government's AU$250 million Future ICT procurement program, which is expected to announce two similar deals for Internet service provider and mainframe services during April.
