Telstra needs to be broken up! Rex Alfie Lee -- 21/12/05 (in reply to #120125686)

The whole idea of a company controlling the costs of access in this way is absurd. Telstra maintains a monopoly & it is in its interests to do so. The copper infrastructure & upgrades of that type of hardward should be a Gov't enterprise. It should be mandated to run at zero cost of maintenance which means the costs of access are enough to retain the maintenance & perhaps some R & D.

The Gov't should run this side of the company & Telstra should be left alone to run its own company, making it no different to Optus & the others having to pay for the access to the hardware as do the others.

Telstra may think they have rights to access the infrastructure but they were given this monopoly as a Gov't department & therefore the infrastructure belongs to the people of Australia, not Telstra.

Government Bullies come for Samuel Kieran Foy -- 21/12/05

Looks like Samuel will be heavied into doing Telstra's bidding by its Government agents, just as ASIC was last week. Why do we continue with the pretence of independent agencies in this country as there is not one who will stand up and be counted.
