The sale of Commander's telecommunications business could be wrapped up within the next couple of weeks, according to the failed company's receivers.

McGrathNicol partner Peter Anderson said he was still working hard to sell the telecommunications business. His team had been dealing with "multiple" parties, he said, although he was not able to disclose their identities.
"We are endeavouring to finalise a deal within the next couple of weeks," Anderson said.
McGrathNicol has already sold the telecommunications business once before to a consortium called the Commander Telecommunications Group. The sale fell through in January however, with no reason given as to why it could not go ahead.
Other parts of Commander have successfully been found new homes. Its managed services contracts were sold to CSG while Commander's wireless ISP iBurst's spectrum was snapped up by Telstra.
Commander held contracts with Victoria's Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Federal Department of Finance and Deregulation, the Federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, as well as having a place on a panel providing IT services to the South Australian Government.
Commander had collapsed in August, with $300 million of debts on its books after a turnaround plan spearheaded by CEO Amanda Lacaze failed to alter the company's fortunes.
