Cisco wins UQ wireless deal

in brief Cisco is planning to announce it has won a significant networking deal with the University of Queensland, which includes what the networking giant described today as "the largest 802.11n wireless network in the world".

The company this afternoon invited journalists to a briefing with the university's director of information technology services Nick Tate next week about the deployment.

"The deployment spans the university's four major campuses but also another 45 sites throughout Queensland — including two islands in the Great Barrier Reef," Cisco said, noting the deployment was on the multi-million-dollar scale.
