I dont care if it is quick or not. Security and stability are the two dominating factors.

Theres no point to speed with out those two factors first. The other thing which concerns me is the comments, I am seeing about the G9 and its secretive adgenda to open up policy in Australia.

I sure as hell dont want other countries dictating to us how to best do things. We need an All Australian Solution. Telstra have the Experience, Know how and are ready to do this.

The G9 however would have to put this out to tender, how much longer will that take....

Sorry but the G9 just dont have the ability in my view.

Perhaps we need to have G10 - a group that includes G9 Telstra?

Optus is a member of the G9. The G9 is not Optus. The majority of companies in the G9 are hard working Australian owned companies which were built from the ground up. They were not handed a publicly funded monopoly like another telco i could mention.

The G9 probably won't get the go-ahead for the FTTN, but i sure hope Telstra doesn't either. We out here in the bush are sick of dealing with Telstras garbage. I have been in IT for over 10 years, and i have yet to have a pleasant experience dealing with them.

Another 20 years of Telstras monopoly pricing and poor service is something we could well do without.

It's obvious that our politicians do not understand their own country. The free market economy will not work in the case of telecommunications infrastructure because there are not enough people in this country to fund it. How much infrastructure would their be in the US if their market was less than 10% of it's current size?
The reason the Governement must own and build infrastructure in this country is not ideology but reality. The alternate is to have inferior infratsucture with small pockets to "world standard" in the CBD's inour capitol cities.
