Aust global wireless broadband push advances

SkyNetGlobal has nabbed several key wireless hotspots in the Asia Pacific region in its latest bid to expand its international wireless broadband service.

The Australian broadband specialist has brought two international airports in Taiwan and Japan, and franchises of three well-established cafe chains operating in Asia under its global wireless access umbrella.

SkyNetGlobal's service now covers Taipei Sangshun Airport and International Convention Centre and Narita Airport in Japan. Cafe franchises newly added to the service in Asia include Starbucks and Coffee Club in Singapore and Pacific Coffee in Hong Kong.

SkyNetGlobal today announced the new additions wireless hotspot-list were part of its effort to expand the service rapidly over the last two months. According to the wireless service provider the number of access points it offers has expanded by 50 percent since October.

The cost of using the service overseas is 150 percent higher than it is to use it locally. In Australia access rates are charged at AU$0.20 cents per minute -- overseas the service is expected to cost AU$0.50 cents per minute.

The wireless service is provided through deals SkyNetGlobal has made with overseas carriers.
