Australia's Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Daryl Williams, signed the statement with Thai Minister of Information and Communications, Surapong Suebwonglee. The agreement is designed to encourage cooperation on policies and regulatory matters between the two countries.
The joint statement covers exchanging information on telecommunications policy and regulatory matters and on the application of IT and cooperating on implementation of the APEC Telecommunications and Information Working Group Mutual Recognition Arrangement.
Australia also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States and the United Kingdom that will enable each country's anti-spam enforcement agencies to share information and cooperate in investigating cross-border spamming activities.
