Alcatel-Lucent's Aussie head goes home

French networking equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent this morning confirmed its Australian chief Hilary Mine would resign for personal reasons and head back to her home country of the United States.

According to a spokesperson for the company, Mine's reasons for leaving the company were personal, with the MD wanting to head back to her home of California. The move would make working for the company she has been with for almost a decade unfeasible.

"The closest office was New Jersey and that just couldn't work for her," a spokesperson said.

Mine was filling two roles, both being the head of Alcatel Lucent's Australian operations and the regional head of Alcatel for Australasia and North Asia .

Andrew Butterworth, who has been the vice president of the services business group here in Australia will take over her Australian leadership role, while Sean Dolan, chief operating officer of the company's Asia-Pacific region, will take on the regional mantle in addition to his current duties.

Both men have been given the positions in an acting capacity, although it was not intended to hand them later to other applicants, according to a spokesperson. "The only reason that it's acting at the moment is that there'll be further organisational changes," the spokesperson said, referring to the global announcement last week disclosing a new leadership team, some sourced from external companies.
