in brief Vodafone Australia appears to be planning to launch the visual voicemail feature of Apple's iPhone platform, almost a year after the company and rivals Optus and Telstra started selling the handset locally without the feature.

The mobile telco has launched a page on its website to promote the feature. Customers will need to update their iPhone firmware to the latest Apple release via iTunes to get access to visual voicemail.

Visual voicemail allows iPhone users to see details about their voicemail via entries on their iPhone screen, rather than interacting with their voicemail via a more traditional audio system.

Spokespeople from Vodafone, as well as Optus and Telstra, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
