in brief The nation's number two telco this morning said it had won a $143 million deal with its existing customer, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, to implement a contact centre and 7,000-seat Voice over IP solution. Optus said it and its ICT subsidiary Alphawest had won the deal following a competitive tender. DIAC is also utilising Optus' third-generation mobile network for mobile phone and mobile broadband access, the telco said, and the deal will see DIAC transition its wide area network services to Optus' Evolve IP network. Optus will provide an on-site team to aid the department with its network, including network monitoring and capacity planning.
