Telstra retreats again on wireless pricing

Telstra today adjusted pricing for its wireless broadband service for the second time in as many months, introducing a new low-use entry-level plan and data shaping on higher use contracts.

The entry-level plan will offer users 200MB for $29.95 per month on a 12-month contract.

In August, Telstra announced a range of new wireless broadband pricing which included a 3GB plan for $89.95. This price will now include 5GB of data on a 12-month contract, plus will exclude any excess usage charges when users exceed the data allocation. Instead, customers opting for a 5GB or 10GB plan will now have their throughput shaped to 64Kbps until the end of the billing month.

Customers who exceed their data allowances on plans without data shaping will pay $0.25 per MB of additional data used. In addition, new customers will be required to purchase a compatible BigPond modem costing $299.
