Optus problems run to porting By Suzanne Tindal, ZDNet.com.au October 09, 2008 URL: http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/communications/soa/Optus-problems-run-to-porting/0,130061791,339292561,00.htm
in brief Optus has run into problems again with its mobile phone network after a software upgrade over the weekend broke the carrier's ability to port some numbers to or from the network.
The telco had been undergoing an upgrade of its mobile porting systems on Saturday and Sunday after which a "small number" of customers had issues porting their numbers to or from the network, a spokesperson for the company told ZDNet.com.au. The problem has still not been fixed, but Optus has been working with the customers individually to resolve it. The spokesperson was unable to say exactly how many customers had been affected, or when they might expect to be able to port numbers again. It has been a problematic time for the carrier, which experienced major mobile outages a few months earlier.
