in brief Internet service provider TPG has revealed it's toying with offering users "naked DSL". According to a post on its forums, the ISP is gathering opinions from existing and would-be users on offering an unbundled broadband package without the necessity for a subscription to an accompanying Telstra phone line. The two packages under discussion are 25GB plan, with 18GB available during peak hours and an additional 7GB off peak for AU$59.99 per month; and a 150GB scheme, with 35GB peak and 115GB more off peak for a AU$79.99 monthly subscription. Both packages would be shaped at 64Kbps when a user exceeded their allowance and will take advantage of TPG's unbundled ADSL2+ network. Since TPG announced in 2005 it plans to unbundle, it has enabled almost 170 exchanges. The rollout has encountered significant delays since it was initially proposed. In 2005, the ISP said it would have 250 unbundled exchanges by the end of 2006. A TPG spokesperson declined to comment on the proposed plans.
