Mobile operator MobileOne has begun push-to-talk trials with the Marriott Hotel and delivery giant United Parcel Service in Singapore. Push-to-talk allows callers to connect to other cell phones with the push of a single button. There is no need to dial a number, similar to a walkie-talkie. But only one person can talk at a time. According to a company spokesperson, the three-week evaluation, which will be used to gauge commercial demand, involves about 20 users and may be extended to other M1 corporate customers. "Push-to-Talk Over Cellular can potentially complement the mobile business by meeting the special communication needs of certain groups of end users, particularly enterprise customers," said M1 CEO Neil Montefiore in a statement. For the trials, M1 will be using Nokia's push-to-talk platform and 5140 handsets.
