Fibre broadband carrier Uecomm has pulled off a key win by nabbing a second contract with the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET).

The AU$11.5 million contract, announced today to the Australian Stock Exchange, adds to the AU$8.5 million (DET) contract announced last week, bringing the value to AU$20 million over two years. The two deals have added around 40 percent to Uecomm sales this year. "It's pretty important for us," Brendan Park, director of product and marketing at Uecomm told ZDNet Australia  .

The two contracts will see Uecomm provide Ethernet managed data services from 2 to 100 Mbps to a large number of schools and TAFEs across metropolitan NSW.

Park said Uecomm was a natural choice if the DET decided to opt for fibre connectivity. "It's a fairly obvious choice that we'd pick up some of the business because of our extensive infrastructure," he said.
