Australian Hotmail users lose POP retrieval By James Pearce, ZDNet Australia June 06, 2002 URL: http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/communications/soa/Australian-Hotmail-users-lose-POP-retrieval/0,130061791,120265822,00.htm
Australian Hotmail users will no longer have the option of using the POP retrieval function to aggregate e-mail from several accounts from July 16 this year. Users were informed via e-mail of the change in service, but no explanation was given. Samantha Herron, a spokesperson for NineMSN, told ZDNet Australia the decision had come from the US. -MSN Hotmail has taken this step to ensure consumers get the best experience possible," she said. -In the US the service is still available to those customers who have purchased MSN extra storage. In those countries where extra storage is not available MSN are giving users the notice they need to find alternative arrangements." Australians are not currently able to purchase the premium service, and are therefore ineligible for the POP retrieval function. Herron was unable to say when the service would be available. -It is being considered long-term but there are no announcements to be made at this point," she said.
