Local mobile number portability complaints fall By Staff writers, ZDNet Australia March 14, 2002 URL: http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/communications/soa/Local-mobile-number-portability-complaints-fall/0,130061791,120264021,00.htm
Delays in porting between providers remains the top complaints about mobile number portability, however the number of unsatisfied customers is starting to wane, according to a report by the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman. John Pinnock, Telecommunications Ombudsman, said that more than half the complaints it had received about mobile number portability (MNP) during the quarter had been received in September and October, with complaints dropping off rapidly after that. There were a total of 867 complaints during the quarter, Pinnock said. Despite this improvement, the telecommunications ombudsman has expressed concern about high termination fees being charged by some providers for leaving their contract and porting to another mobile phone company.
