Yarra Valley Water and Woodside Petroleum announced multi-million dollar outsourcing deals this week with Fujitsu and CSC respectively.

Yarra Valley, Melbourne's largest water retailer, signed a seven year, AU$21 million contract with Fujitsu. The deal covers desktop, network and server management, voice communications, as well as core applications such as billing systems.

The government-owned retailer has set up a co-sourcing arrangement with Fujitsu as part of the contract. This will involve a joint governance approach based on the utility's decision processes and the outsourcer's service delivery. Service delivery will be based on the ITIL framework.

Meanwhile oil and gas exploration company Woodside Petroleum appointed CSC to provide infrastructure services. These include desktop support, help desk, server support, as well as problem, change and asset management.

Woodside is already in a two month transition period from incumbent provider Hewlett-Packard. The initial 12 month contract will begin from September.

The value of the Woodside deal was not disclosed.
