Yahoo's new search technology received positive feedback after its deployment in the US this week. The new YST, which allows a more comprehensive and relevant search experience for its users, is expected to continue on a worldwide basis in the next couple of weeks.

Cliff Rosenberg, Managing Director of Yahoo! Australia and New Zealand, says they are planning to deploy much of this technology on www.yahoo.com.au and www.yahoo.co.nz, optimised for Australian and New Zealand searchers. Although Rosenberg cannot disclose the exact release date of the new search technology, he assures users that it will be in the near future and will surpass its competitors in terms of its search performance. The initial feedback from the US launch has been -exceptionally positive" and Rosenberg is confident it will be same in Australia and New Zealand.

As part of the company's next steps in customisation and personalisation, Yahoo! is introducing a new search service that integrates Yahoo! Search with My Yahoo! by adding links to XML/RSS site syndication content in search results. This service enables users to search for millions of sites that support this format and easily add them to their My Yahoo! personal homepage. Once added to their page, users will see instantly updated headlines and links from these sites, keeping them in touch with all of their important information from the Internet in a single place.

Yahoo! Search has combined its own proprietary anti-spam technology with its team of editorial experts and Yahoo! Mail's SpamGuard technology to help filter out irrelevant, redundant or low-quality URLs and links, further improving the user experience across Yahoo.
