Westpac refuses to discuss fate of BT tech staff

Westpac refuses to discuss the likely fate of BT Financial's technical staff following its recent acquisition of the funds management company.

-It's too early to get into that sort of detail," a curt Westpac spokesperson told ZDNet Australia. -These are company transactions."

The spokesman also refused to reveal details of how the two companies will be merged, despite Westpac already announcing the businesses would be integrated -within a short period of time".

Westpac has acquired BT from American company Principal Financial Group for AU$900 million, a deal that will make it Australia's fourth largest retail funds manager with AU$30 billion under management.
