Victoria is still lacking a permanent deputy chief information officer, with a number of executives briefly acting in the position since the departure of Steve Hodgkinson in July.
The state office of the CIO's stated aim is to drive Victoria's strategic investment in ICT resources, creating a favourable policy environment for agencies to collaborate on technology use. Jane Treadwell is the state's chief information officer.
The group has lost some key staff members recently, with the latest to leave being Steve Wylie, who sat in the deputy CIO role for an unknown period of time in the second half of this year.
A spokesperson for the state told ZDNet Australia today Wylie had left for family reasons, with his wife taking a position in Ireland.
"As I understand it, the process to find a replacement is still under way," the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson could not immediately confirm the status of Michael Delaney, who had as recently as August been acting in the deputy CIO role.
Delaney had initially been sharing the position with another lead strategy analyst, Terry Wright, but had sole responsibility as of August. The pair's predecessor, Steve Hodgkinson, left in July to take up a top research job with analysis group Ovum.
The office of the CIO is also believed to have recently appointed a chief operating officer, Owen Gwynne.
