Local diversified technology services firm UXC has quietly sold off a part of the Getronics business it acquired earlier this year.
"We've started to reshape Getronics, by selling its physical maintenance and servicing arm to a competitor in a joint venture arrangement so that we can focus more on the professional services side," said UXC executive chairman Geoff Lord in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange this morning.
Lord described the division as the "break and fix" arm of Getronics, saying it maintained and serviced desktop systems.
UXC finance director Mark Hubbard declined to detail who had picked up the Getronics chunk, saying that UXC could not disclose the buyer's identity without their permission. He said UXC had not previously disclosed the deal because it was not material to his firm's earnings.
In general UXC was currently involved in obtaining synergies from the Getronics acquisition by driving the business "harder and more efficiently", Lord said. UXC had spent $7 million on reshaping Getronics' IT platform.
