The federal Department of the Treasury has swiped an IT manager from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) to fill its new chief information officer position.

A Treasury spokesperson told ZDNet Australia via telephone this afternoon that DIMA's Alaine King had been confirmed as its new CIO, after a recruitment process kicked off in late October.

The spokesperson could not immediately confirm King's former position or further background.

The executive will pick up a hefty pay packet between AU$151,348 and AU$175,899, and will particularly be needed to provide strategic management in respect of knowledge management initiatives.
