The federal Department of the Treasury has started looking for a top IT manager to fill its vacant chief information officer role.
The position was advertised last week in a Fairfax newspaper, with the Treasury listing an annual salary of between AU$151,348 and AU$175,899.
While a spokesperson for the department claimed the role had been newly created, a number of public records list Geoff de la Motte as the Treasury's CIO or as head of the department's Information Unit.
The Treasury spokesperson directed further enquiries to Ian Robinson, Treasury's general manager of Corporate Services. Calls to both Robinson and de la Motte were not returned at of the time of publication.
Treasury will start examining candidates in early November, with the department particularly looking for candidates to provide strategic leadership in respect of knowledge management initiatives.
