Sydney man arrested for eBay fraud

The New South Wales Police Force has confirmed a Sydney man will face court after being charged over internet fraud allegedly committed last month.

Multiple newspaper reports claim the man is Chun Fai Tsang, also known as Timothy Tsang, who is currently the subject of an internet campaign led by Melbourne-based IT worker Neil Moreton. Moreton wants Tsang brought to justice over what he claims are cases of fraud on online auction site eBay.

Moreton has set up a wiki to track Tsang and coordinate multiple accusations of fraud against him.

NSW Police said the man had been arrested as the result of a woman's report that fraud was committed against her after goods she had bought online were not delivered.

"Police will allege the man also defrauded another buyer from Melbourne through the website," police said in statement published early this morning.

Tsang was charged with two counts of obtaining benefit through deception. He was refused bail and is due to appear at Hornsby Local Court today.

Ebay Fraudster Nabbed Anonymous -- 09/07/08

Why does it take a customer to track down an e-bay scammer. Surely e-bay would have a lot more information on this seller's activities than could be gathered by an on-line wiki. Oh! wait... if the scammer is in jail there are no mere fees to be earned, better for the bottom line to let sleeping dogs lie.
