Sydney council takes on e-payment solution

Hornsby Council in northern Sydney has signed a deal with Westpac Banking Corporation to implement a new electronic bill presentment and payment service developed by technology specialist CommSecure.

The council is expected to go live with the first stage of the CommSecure electronic bill presentment and payment service in February, allowing residents to pay rates using the BPAY View facility. That facility allows residents to receive, view and pay their bills via their own banking or the council's Web site.

CommSecure managing director, Ray Loyzaga, said other council fee payment options would be added subsequently.
