Sony Australia has dropped the price of the PS2 console, but bundled games and accessories have also fallen off the promotional map as well.

In a press release the company stated that the new price point would replace existing promotions that the company had engaged in over the previous three months, meaning a return to selling bare-bones PS2 systems. The lower-priced unit replaces the Entertainment Pack and free game bundle pack that had been selling at retailers for around AU$400.

The move comes on the same day that Sony Australia's parent company released details on the PSX, an all-in-one DVD recorder and Playstation 2 variant set to launch in Japan at the end of the year.
