Embleton will be leaving the company after working as its CIO since 2007, according to Red Cross spokesperson Kathy Bowlen. She could not say why he was leaving or where he would be moving on to.

The Red Cross required a CIO with complex service delivery system experience who will be responsible for an operating budget of approximately $15 million and a team of 85 national technical staff, plus contractors.

The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is an organisation with over 3200 staff and 2000 volunteers in over 100 mobile and static sites. According to the organisation, it collects 1 million donations each year and annually provides 3 million units of blood for people around Australia.
