Qwest Cyber.Solutions today announced it will begin offering business-to-business e-commerce applications from Ariba Inc. as part of its hosted services.

Qwest Cyber.Solutions, an ASP (application service provider) that is a joint venture between Qwest Communications International Inc. and consulting giant KPMG LLP, will deliver the Ariba Network, Ariba's B2B e-commerce platform, through its network.

In addition, Ariba has selected Qwest as its ASP to host, manage and support its front-office applications from Siebel Systems Inc.

Keith Krach, president and CEO of Ariba, said in a prepared statement that Qwest has the "Internet-based infrastructure and applications expertise" not only to host Ariba applications but to serve as an ASP for Ariba.

Qwest Cyber.Solutions was created last June to combine Qwest's broadband Internet network with KPMG's expertise in consulting and integration. In addition to Ariba and Siebel, the unit offers applications from SAP, Oracle Corp., PeopleSoft Inc., Captura and others delivered over Qwest's network and data centers.

Ariba, which earlier this week announced a major partnership with Electronic Data Systems Corp., will provide the platform for EDS CoNext, an EDS business-to-business subsidiary. Each company will purchase the other's common stock.

Qwest, of Denver, can be reached at www.qwest.com. Ariba, of Mountain View, Calif., can be reached at www.ariba.com.
