In brief Queensland Health is looking to appoint a permanent chief information officer (CIO) after filling the role with an acting CIO for the past six months.
The department's move follows a six-month period in which the Information Division's executive director Ray Brown headed up the department in an acting capacity.
Prior to Brown's appointment in January, Dr Richard Asbury had served as the interim CIO after the sudden departure of Paul Summergreene in July last year.
A spokesperson for the department said Brown was welcome to apply for the job, which would offer a remuneration of $170,495. The CIO will be expected to lead the department's e-health strategy, and will be provided additional "high level" support from a manager also on the department's wish list, according to two advertisements it placed on careers website, Seek, yesterday.
Brown formerly held a role as assistant director for Queensland Police's Information Division.

Ray is a very good operator, and would be good for Health. However i wonder if he'd really be up to the job fulltime. The CIO of Health has to look after a 20,000 user organisation, with untold politics, a bunch of clinicians and nurses to keep happy, and pretty poor pay for the role.
No wonder Sumergreene was a bit dodgy with his expenses (thus his early exit).
The simple fact is that they need to offer more money for the stress invovled with the role.
