Palm Australia finally reveals mass-market PDA

Palm Australia has finally revealed its local plans to capture the budget hand-held market, confirming the release of a mass-market Palm.

Two distinct sub-brands have been created by Palm to separate the personal user from the business user. While 'Tungsten' is aimed at the business user, the 'Zire' targets personal users on a budget.

The Zire is targeting users who considered handhelds "too complicated, too corporate or just too expensive", according to a Palm marketing document.

The Zire has a recommended retail price of AU$239. No details have yet been released concerning the Tungsten brand.
