St.George Bank is yet to identify a technical glitch that has hampered its online banking service today.

The bank claims that experienced problems with its network for around 2 hours this morning causing forcing St.George Internet banking offline for less than an hour from midday Eastern Standard Time.

A spokeswoman for the bank blamed the outage on an "internal network issues" but was at the time was unable to elaborate on the matter.

While St.George maintains that the service was affected for around 40 minutes, some customers had reported difficulties using the service earlier in the day. Some complained that they were unable to login to the service at 9am while others noted that they were unable access account records after the time St.George claims service was restored.

The spokeswoman for the bank told ZDNet Australia that some customers may have experienced slower service than usual earlier in the day did not indicate whether it was related to the outage.

St.George is expected to give detailed report on the outage later today.

Their online banking has been unavailable for 6.5 hours already in NSW- I phoned at 1.30 pm and was told it would be another half an hour before service was restored and it is now 3.31. They obviously have major problems

I am a stgeorge customer, My card has been getting rejected all day. and i have funds available. I cant use ATM, phone or internet banking, and their staff said there was nothing they could do, and that the branch couldnt give me cash because it was closed, Due to a "Virus" infecting the internal banking systems. StGeorge Poor!!
