Australian motor insurer NRMA has signed a deal with Ariba to implement its B2B e-commerce platform, trading online with five key suppliers.
The deal was announced at the Ariba Live 2001 conference held in Sydney today, which focused on the global B2B e-commerce platform.
"Ariba Buyer will enable us to work closely with our suppliers in this new environment without imposing cumbersome processes and standards on them," NRMA B2B e-commerce Manager Catherine Rusby.
The initial rollout of Ariba's e-procurement solution will enable NRMA to transact electronically with stationery supplier Corporate Express, ADA for staff uniforms, and C&W Optus for mobile phones.
NRMA will go live with the Ariba B2B e-commerce platform in four months.
The company says it will provide greater savings potential in the longer term by bringing claims expenditure, such as white and brown goods, building services and motor repairs online.
NRMA spends over one billion dollars annually on home and motoring claims, the company says the deal will increase efficiencies and lower costs.
The Ariba Buyer eProcurement solution will enable NRMA to make direct purchase orders to their trading partners on the Internet.
