Interim CIO digs in at NSW Housing Dept

The New South Wales Department of Housing has appointed its interim chief information officer Dr Vladas Leonas to a permanent position.

Leonas had previously been on a short-term contract at Housing while the department looked for a permanent replacement for its former technology boss Doug Falconer, who left earlier this year.

"The department is very pleased to have a CIO of Vladas's standing on board," a statement issued by Housing to ZDNet Australia said this morning. "He will be a great asset to the organisation in this important time in its history."

Prior to his current role, Vladas was chief technology officer at the Australian Centre for Advanced Computing and Communications. He has also held a CIO position at the NSW Department of Public Works and Services, and various senior management positions at Telstra.

The executive has a PhD and MSc in Computer Science.
