The Government 2.0 taskforce has called for public comments on its Towards Government 2.0 discussion paper.
Embracing the technology it is looking at, the taskforce has asked for comments to be placed on its discussion paper blog post.
Lindsay Tanner, minister for Finance and Deregulation, said "This consultation is a great example of some of the key concepts of Government 2.0. [...] The Taskforce wants to hear observations, both good and bad, on how we manage information and engage citizens".
The issues the discussion paper addresses are: building a culture that favours disclosure of public sector information; which government information should be made available; what are the major obstacles to online engagement with government and how are they tackled; and how can government "capture the imagination" of citizens to encourage participation in policy development and collaboration between citizens and government.
The Government 2.0 taskforce was appointed in June.
