in brief German software maker SAP has cut a number of staff from its Australian division in line with globally mandated targets.
"We've had to let go of a number of really good people," a SAP Australia spokesperson said yesterday. "SAP has been actively hiring over the last few years for planned growth, so we're now taking action to protect the business as the economy slows."
The company will cut less than 40 people from its local workforce of more than 500, as part of global plans to cut 3,000 staff from a total roster of 51,500.
"It's been necessary to eliminate positions in every geography, including ANZ," the spokesperson said. "It's no reflection upon the abilities or performance of the people concerned that their positions were eliminated."
