According to Akikusa, developments in IT will lead to an increase in jobs in the area of systems integration and IT support services, and proposed that delivery mechanisms would increasingly rely on the Internet.
-We must be sensitive to the fact that the network lowers new entry barriers and facilitates business coordination," Akikusa said.
The major emphasis of Akikusa presentation however, was the extent to which new applications would emerge from and interrelated, interconnected view of both business and computing.
-To achieve application breakthroughs, it will be necessary to challenge the conventional view and utilize many different fields," Akikusa said. -In this regard we should not simply compete but also value and take advantage of each other's unique strengths to provide excellent services to our customers."
