The team from Spike was originally part of New Toys Multimedia, which became Spike Multimedia when it was purchased by Spike in September 1999, just six months before the burst of the dot-com bubble. Spike eventually went into voluntary administration in July last year, amid rumours of excessively flashy self-promotion and too-frequent changes of management.
Andrew Mylne, General Manager Creative Services for Point Blank Media Group (PBMG), told ZDNet Australia the original New Toys team managed to survive the death of Spike because they were a team before joining the company.
"Spike had a culture and a business of its own, which was quite different from the skills and culture we brought to it," said Mylen. "We managed to bring unique skills with us."
Mylne said the skills of the New Toys team were high-end multimedia, the integration of high-bandwidth media with online systems. Five members of the team have now merged those skills with skills from five people from IconMediaLab in PBMG, aimed at providing high-end media solutions.
"Corporate TV is our key service offering, which is a combination of interactive media and digital video," said Mylne.
